Payzum and BTCPay Server side by side
| Feature | Payzum | BTCPay Server |
|---|---|---|
| Fee per payment | 0.5% per processed sale, deducted from the amount received, plus network gas. | 0%. BTCPay is free, open-source software with no processing or subscription fees. Bitcoin network (miner) fees still apply to on-chain payments. [3] |
| Other fees | Auto-conversion, mass payouts and x402 are quoted on request. | The software charges no conversion, withdrawal or monthly fees. You pay for your own hosting, and swap or fiat plugin providers set their own terms. [3] |
| Who holds the funds | Non-custodial: each payment settles on-chain straight to the merchant's own wallet. | Non-custodial. Payments go straight to your own wallet and BTCPay does not need your master private key. A hot wallet created on a shared host gives that host access. [2] |
| Payout to a bank account | No. Payzum is crypto-only; you can auto-convert to USDC or USDT. | Not built in. Plugins add it, for example Bringin, which converts part of incoming bitcoin to euros and sends them to your IBAN account. It requires a Bringin account. [9] |
| USDC and USDT | Yes, on Ethereum, Solana, Polygon, Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, BNB Chain and Avalanche. | None by default. USDt needs the Liquid integration or the Tether USDt plugin (TRON, Ethereum, Polygon), pre-release in October 2026. Swap plugins take other coins and convert them to BTC. [7] |
| Store plugins and API | 29 open-source integrations (WooCommerce, Shopify, Magento, WHMCS and more), SDKs, REST API, signed webhooks. | Plugins for WooCommerce, Shopify, Magento, PrestaShop, Drupal, Odoo, Wix, Ecwid, BigCommerce and over 15 other platforms, plus the Greenfield API for custom builds. [15] |
| In-person point of sale | Yes: a fresh QR per sale, any phone as a terminal, PIN cashiers. | A built-in web Point of Sale app (product list, cart or keypad) runs in the browser of any phone, tablet or PC. Bolt Card NFC payments work over Lightning. [12] |
| Mass payouts | Yes: CSV payouts in BTC, LTC and DOGE, and stablecoin payouts on EVM networks. | Built in through pull payments, used for refunds, payroll and similar cases. Payout processors (since 1.5.0, April 2022) batch and send approved payouts on-chain or over Lightning. [10] |
| AI agents (x402) | Yes: x402 proxy in front of your API, settled through an external facilitator. | No x402 or AI-agent payment feature in core or in the plugin directory as of October 2026. Third-party L402 tools such as l402-kit can use BTCPay as a Lightning backend. [8] |
| Account verification | Sign up, then complete the account verification that applies. | None from the software. Its docs say BTCPay Server will never ask a merchant for personal identification. Third-party hosts and fiat plugins such as Bringin have their own account rules. [3] |
| Hosted or self-hosted | Hosted service. | Self-hosted open-source software. Its docs put a VPS at about $10 to $70 a month, or you can use your own hardware. Third-party hosts are free or paid, by provider. [4] |
When BTCPay Server is the better choice
- You want zero processing fees and are comfortable running your own server or choosing a trusted third-party host.
- Your customers pay mostly in Bitcoin and Lightning, or you want community-supported coins like Litecoin or Monero.
- You want open-source software under your full control that never asks you for ID.
When Payzum is the better choice
- You prefer signing up for a service with hosted checkout, payment links, invoices and subscriptions instead of running your own instance.
- You take payments on Ethereum, Solana, Base, Polygon and other networks, with optional auto-conversion to USDC or USDT.
- You want 29 official open-source integrations, or an x402 proxy so AI agents can pay per API call in USDC on Base.
Questions about switching
Is BTCPay Server cheaper than Payzum?
BTCPay charges no processing fee, while Payzum takes 0.5% per sale plus gas. With BTCPay you cover hosting, which its docs put at about $10 to $70 a month on a VPS, unless you use a free third-party host.
Which one fits better if I want to accept stablecoins?
BTCPay has no stablecoins by default. USDt needs the Liquid integration or the Tether USDt plugin, still pre-release. Payzum works on Ethereum, Solana, Base and other networks, with optional auto-conversion of incoming payments to USDC or USDT.
Do both send payments straight to my own wallet?
Yes. BTCPay pays into your wallet without needing your master private key, and Payzum settles each payment on-chain to a wallet you control. On a shared BTCPay host, avoid creating a hot wallet there, since the host would have access.
